A History of Saratoga's Libraries
by Willys Peck

The Friends of the Saratoga Libraries has published a very special
monograph about the rich history of the Library in Saratoga, authored by
Willys Peck, journalist, attorney and Saratoga's Official Honorary
Historian for live.
Public Library Services have been available to residents in Saratoga,
and a part of its culture, since 1903. Mr. Peck weaves the
fascinating, often humorous, history from its inception through the
current expansion of what is still, to most Saratogans, the "New Library",
now twenty-two years old.
This special book, designed, letterpress printed, and bound by The Arts
& Crafts Press in Olalla, Washington is limited to 350 numbered and signed
copies. The book, forty pages in length, measures seven by ten
inches. Two never-before published photographs by Ansel Adams of the
Oak Street Village Library are printed as duotones. The text is
decorated with motifs designed and block printed by Yoshiko Yamamoto of
apricots, fruit trees, and the Library. The binding is cloth on
board with leather spine, plus printed end-papers, and a slipcase to
protect the book.
The price of A
History of Saratoga's Libraries is $100,
of which $50 is tax deductible and will benefit the Saratoga Library.
The book is available for purchase at the
